Ministries

ACOLYTE - Consisting of youth (ages 8 and up) who serve with the clergy in all services, acolytes learn about the heart of worship - the meaning behind the motions. They learn reverence to God, following directions, leadership skills, and confidence.
Acolytes also have their own fundraisers, fun outings, and parties to build teamwork and friendship. If interested, please contact our acolyte coordinator, Peggy Knox, at 581-1840.

ALTAR GUILD - This ministry is for women who are dedicated to the Christ and who want to serve him by preparing the church and the altar for worship services. Responsibilities include the care of vestments, linens, and hangings, filling the candles with oil, and preparing the altar for Communion. Special duties also include preparations for weddings and funerals, as well as with high holy days around Christmas and Easter Week. If interested, please contact the Altar Guild director, Vicki Bardo, at 726-7626.

CANTERBURY HANDBELL CHOIR - This music ministry is fun and beautiful to listen to for their worship to the Lord. Meeting at 5:30 pm on Wednesdays at the church, Amanda Dallabetta directs the choir in learning pieces for Sunday worship and for special performances during Christmas and Easter. If interested, please contact Amanda Dallabetta at 782-5763.

CURSILLO - This is a special retreat weekend held twice a year. It is for Christians who desire a deeper walk with Jesus. Worship, discussions, prayer, sharing, fun, and good food are all part of the experience that seeks to bless participants with the unconditional love of God.
Cursillo’s goal is not only to bring people to Jesus, but also to send them out into their spheres of influence to serve and lead others into a relationship with Jesus. Small group times and monthly gatherings help encourage people to love God and others. If interested, please contact Petra Orta at 785-9689.

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING - This is a special order for women of the Episcopal Church. Organized in 1885, the Order is dedicated to study, ministry, and especially prayer. It meets every first Tuesday of the month at 1 pm at the church. Prayer requests and thanksgivings are shared, as women – who have taken their vows to the Order – meet and commit to regular prayer for the requests made. President is Marilyn Vickrey, and she can be reached at 782-0148.

ECW (EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN) - All women in the Episcopal Church are automatically members, and ECW is a place where women can get together to share fellowship, study, prayer, and service to the church and the community.
Fundraising, sponsorships to ministries local and global, as well as regular help for functions in church life are important activities of ECW. Meetings are the 3rd Thursday of the month at noon at the church. If interested, please contact Verna Williams at 783-0972.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS - This is a special and personally rewarding ministry that brings Communion (the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus) to the sick and shut-ins of our church family. Those interested must receive training from St. Paul’s and from the diocese, as the ministry is often personal and sacred – a relationship to God and to the person that cannot be abused or disrespected. If interested, please contact Max Bardo - 783-1115.

LAY READERS & CHALICE BEARERS - This ministry is a public one – upfront as part of the regular Sunday worship services (8 and 10:30 am). Lay Readers are given the privilege of reading Bible passages and leading the prayers of the people. Those wishing to go deeper in a knowledge of the Bible and helping others to do so too should contact Max Bardo at (928) 783-1115 or e-mail maxvicki63@msn.com.
Chalice Bearers are upfront as well and have the privilege of bearing God’s presence to His people through the bread and wine during Communion. Reverence, prayer, and blessing are hallmarks of this ministry. Please see Max Bardo for interest in this ministry too.

ORDER OF ST. LUKE - This is an inter-denominational healing ministry for the Yuma Community. Believing that Jesus’ healing power was not just limited to Bible times, the Order of St. Luke devotes itself to prayer, study, and devotion in order to better communicate Jesus’ healing (emotional and physical) to those in need. Classes regularly meet to train people who are interested, and meetings are held the last Tuesday of the month at 7 pm at the church.
The Order of St. Luke organizes a healing prayer conference yearly for the Yuma community and is regularly invited to other chapters' events in the Arizona and California area. Prayer ministers are also available for private and confidential counsel regularly at Sunday worship at St. Paul's. Please contact Bev Armendariz at 344-0587 for more information or if you wish to join this ministry.

PRAYERS & SQUARES - A quilting ministry that is also inter-denominational and for young and old, this group meets at the church at 9 am on Saturdays. Requests are made for quilts to be given to those suffering from sickness, injury, and/or any other physical or emotional malady. The quilts are made to express God’s love and the prayers said to Him on behalf of the person receiving the quilt.
Through this ministry, there have been many testimonies of God’s love and comfort for many all over the country. One does not need to know how to sew to be a part of this fun group. One can learn amidst the fellowship, or one can simply help with tying strings or pinning fabric.
Regularly, quilts are displayed for all to see at Sunday worship and for people to say a prayer for the recipient as they tie a knot in the quilt as an expression of their prayer. If interested, please contact Nancy Wright at 345-9345.

ST. CECILIA CHOIR - Under the direction of Tom Fletcher, teens and adults minister in song and praise to the congregation on Sundays. The choir also sings at special services for Christmas and Easter. One does not need to have a music background to be a part of the choir. Learning and fun accompany practices together, which is at 9 am on Saturdays at the church during the school year. If interested, please contact Tom Fletcher at 782-5115.

USHERS & GREETERS - We strive to be a welcoming and hospitable church family, so this ministry is very important and for anyone young or old who wishes to meet new people and help folks feel at home.
In addition to greeting people and helping people to know their way around the church, volunteers also help collect the offering during Sunday worship (8 and 10:30 am) and bring forward the bread and wine for Communion. Lastly, volunteers for this ministry can also serve at weddings, funerals, and music programs throughout the year. Contact Myrtle Stewart at 783-8539 if interested.

YOUTH GROUP - This inter-denominational ministry seeks to be a fun and safe place to help any teen (grade 6 and up) from the Yuma community. Worship, Bible study, concerts, outdoor trips, retreats, community outreach, and even international outreach are all part of the friendships and fun we have together.
Youth group times are 4 pm on Sundays at 1460 Arroyo Dr. (behind St. Paul’s). Youth leadership meetings are at 6:30 pm on Sundays at the same address. Additionally, game and movie nights are at 6 pm on Fridays at the church. Please contact The Rev. Michael Todd at 329-0634 if interested.
